Written in the back of a truck on the Hana highway on the island of Maui. Inspired by a dream, and a friend. Artwork by Drew Blincow.

in the belly of the whale
the days are cold and dark as hell
the ocean crashing round
the motion and the sound

fall asleep
down in the deep

we were shipwrecked on the sea
knew the waves would bury me
who would have known
that I should sail
in that home
inside the whale

swallowed my dreams
for I did sea
a mirror to the sea

underneath the broken light
days are calm and the music's right
o the moon did glow
to the coral sand below

I did sail
for years alone
alone to tell the tale
of the window in the whale

the window in the whale
